As many analysts refer to it, we are presently in the middle of “The Great Resignation,” as many analysts refer to it. Business owners have been fighting to retain their staff since the Covid-19 epidemic wreaked havoc on various businesses throughout the globe, as millions of people seek to better their work-life balance by reprioritizing their responsibilities/commitments.In many respects, this widespread departure from the office is attributable to the enormous variety of advantages that remote working provides, such as improved flexibility, elimination of commutes, and geographical freedom. Indeed, it is projected that over four million Americans have lost their employment per month since the beginning of the year, which is a staggering figure. With this in mind, here are six suggestions for keeping your staff happy and increasing workplace retention.

Introduce a flexible work schedule.

Remote/flexible working is fast becoming a need in the workplace due to the epidemic. However, returning to the office for a 40-hour workweek after a sudden change to full-time remote work is a terrifying proposition for many. As a result, if you want to keep your staff satisfied, you must encourage flexible working inside your organization.

According to Find Stack, just 44% of organizations worldwide do not allow any type of remote work, despite 74% of workers saying that having the option to work remotely would make them less likely to quit. This is a significant opportunity to improve your organization’s appeal to both current employees and external talent.

Be open and honest with yourself.

Building trust and goodwill between workers and management is the fundamental advantage of establishing an open and honest working culture. The days of totalitarian organizations ruling the world are long gone. Therefore, it is critical to make workers feel valued, understood, and appreciated these days.

So, how does a corporation that is open and honest appear? However, it’s not a major problem. Encourage staff to be forthright about bad news and setbacks, and build open lines of communication between them. Above all, make your company’s basic beliefs evident to everyone in the organization, and ensure everyone knows what they’re working for (goals and missions).

Make time for gaming breaks.

There is a slew of advantages to allowing your staff to include gaming breaks into their job, believe it or not. The fact is that no one can work efficiently for the whole day by merely sitting at their desk. That is just not how the human brain works. Allowing workers to take frequent breaks to play games may help them de-stress, communicate with one another, and divert their attention away from the job at hand, allowing them to return to their duties refreshed and energized.

Furthermore, workplace gaming does not necessarily need the use of an Xbox or Playstation. For example, you are giving your staff 10-15 minutes every day to play FreeCell Solitaire or other strategy games; on the other hand, it may be a terrific method to promote employee satisfaction and productivity.

Provide a clear path for advancement inside the firm.

Employees may be more motivated to go outside the company for opportunities to fulfil their potential and climb the professional ladder if there isn’t a defined career path. After all, why should someone stay at your firm if there are better options elsewhere?

Furthermore, as shown by the Great Resignation, we live in one of the times in company history with the least degree of employee loyalty. With this in mind, you should make developing a clear path for your staff a top priority so that they have something to strive for and be inspired by. In addition, employees will get a clear message that their career is appreciated and actively supported throughout the time.

Prepare to provide favourable comments.

To keep your staff happy and onboard, give them regular recognition and rewards. Unfortunately, managers are much too ready to reprimand and point out the defects in their staff, even though, as numerous studies have shown, this isn’t the greatest approach to go about it.

Keeping track of your workers’ activities and praising them when they succeed is critical to fostering a healthy work atmosphere. We feel like we are contributing and valued. So, the next time you’re passing through the office and spot one of your employees going above and beyond their normal responsibilities, don’t be shy about pointing it out and expressing real gratitude.

Provide perks that go beyond the essentials.

The corporate world is growing more competitive. However, this battle isn’t only about consumer money; it’s also about skill. Increased pay is, of course, one of the most apparent methods to attract and retain talent in your firm, but there are a few other strategies you may use to achieve the same result.

Consider how you may aid or enhance your workers’ life in other areas. For example, to assist secure their income, you may provide complementary health and life insurance. You may also provide dental, optical, and wellness benefits to your workers, all of which make them feel appreciated. You may also provide gym memberships, retail discounts, and transportation subsidies. Simply consider what your staff would value most (within limits) and see if there is a way you can assist them.

Final Words

A productive staff is pleased. With this in mind, employers should do all possible to enhance employee morale and foster a good work environment. Additionally, company owners must be mindful of the current trend of workers quitting their jobs favouring greater advantages, such as flexible hours and remote work. These incentives are increasingly needed if you want to keep your workers happy and retain your top talent.
